5) Celebrate Yourself First

2020 was a tough and bleak year for many people. Too many underwent agony unevenly and unfairly. It is an enormous shift and we have many things to learn from it.

One thing that I have learnt is that life is always going to offer something to us, whether what pleases us or what hurts us, and sometimes we would be underprepared for it. And it is inevitable.

In acting, Peter Brook, renowned theatre director once said …

“A stage space has two rules: (1) Anything can happen and (2) Something must happen.”

To me this quote resonates well with real life. That said, there is a great deal of uncertainty about life. So we suffer deep insecurity, and get beaten by the world. As a result, we stop celebrating ourselves. For this reason, a playful child is covered by an adult whose character loomed by an air of fear.

On a stage, this could be a problem because it is almost impossible when an actors shield themselves so strong and resist to break it apart. The show will die, consequently.

In real life, I doubt how could we progress in a project, or a relationship without a decent level of collaboration from the other side?

For this reason, we need to think positively about ourselves first to be able to offer it to our audiences, partners and friends. And trust that we will get the same thing back from them. And as a consequence, we will gain enough support to dare to surprise ourselves and keep on with the good work.
